I'm also done with the underpainting on the 18x18 square. Go me!

Working on the 18x18 painting again.
This painting is also part of the 24th Street Station series, so I added some of the raw umber, burnt sienna and orange layers that I've been using in the 8x8's.

I haven't forgotten about the 18x18 square...
I just added some new layers of dark rust, dark brown, burnt sienna. I also added a few highlights to keep the dark colors from overpowering the yellow base.
This one is coming along nicely.

Finished the base layer yesterday on the 18" x 18" square by adding some thin layers of dark yellow and sienna



I also added more dark yellows and sienna to the set of four 8" x 8" squares. I'm happy with the base layer on all of these, so I'm going to start working on them separately from now on..

Today I made a thin glaze in a very light yellow tint. I covered both canvases with it to even out the backgrounds. Almost done with the base layers!

Here you can see close up how the yellow glaze on the four squares evened out the color.

Here are some pictures of two new paintings I started today. The one on the right is going to be a set of four canvases. I’m going through a yellow/orange/red phase, so both of these are getting the same initial base colors.



btw-I organized my paints! Notice how nice and neat they are all lined up on the bench.
This will not last :)
